Sponsorship
Are you a company looking for a way to engage with your local community?
Maybe you’re an engineering company looking to encourage young people to consider your apprenticeship scheme.
Our School CLUB kit initiative might be just what you are looking for.
How It Works
As well as our individual monthly STEM kits to the door subscriptions, we also supply our CLUB kits to schools wanting to start or run an after-school STEM/Electronics club.
Each CLUB kit includes everything a school needs to run the club – 5 sets of equipment for teams of up to 4 pupils, weekly tasks/instructional videos, teacher notes, test gear etc. There is no need for the responsible adult running the club to have any electronics knowledge.
The CLUB kits are available individually to schools direct, but we also offer packs of 10 for sponsoring companies to provide to local schools as part of their community engagement programme. We can either send these out to your selected schools on your behalf, or send them to you to distribute yourself. We can include company branding and/or literature in the supplied CLUB kits if you wish.
We currently have a 10 week CLUB kit available aimed at Key Stage 3 or 4 students (but also suitable for motivated Key Stage 2 students in some Primary Schools). This covers an Introduction to Electronics with students learning as they go, building circuits such as simple flip-flops, audible circuits, counters, timers etc. and ending with a team challenge to encourage team building. 5 identical sets of components and solderless breadboards are provided.
We also have available our TEAM CHALLENGE CLUB kits which are aimed at older (Key Stage 4) students. 5 teams work on different elements of an electronics project, interfacing with each other (building team-working skills) to create the finished product – an SMS-controlled “Mars Lander” robot based on the Arduino Micro Controller (but we are also working on a second programme building an Internet-of-Things automatic message writer where messages emailed to the message writer are written-out on a whiteboard before the students’ eyes).
Schools are encouraged to start with our Introduction to Electronics CLUB kits and then move those students who have completed the course who are keen to continue onto the TEAM CHALLENGE programme. We are currently planning 2 further sets of Key Stage 3/4 ten week programmes as an alternative follow-on for schools working with younger students who may not be ready to move onto the more advanced TEAM CHALLENGE kits.
Best of all, our kits can be used by the school over and over again with different sets of students (we can provide spares kits to cover any lost bits if necessary).
