What’s in the Box?

All our boxes are different

All our experiment kits include everything you need to carry-out 3-4 hours of experimentation on one or more subjects, guided by comprehensive instructions allowing you to learn as you have fun.

The subjects covered are linked to the 9-1 GCSE syllabus areas in Science, Maths, Engineering and Computer Studies.

Our 'Learn about Colour" Kit

In this STEM kit we learn about Colour and Wavelength.

We all see colour differently – colour is what the eyes tell our brain they have seen when light is reflected off an object.

We define “colours” as they part of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum we can see with human eyes.  The EM spectrum covers everything from radio waves to x rays, and we will learn where in the overall spectrum the thing we know as “colour” fits.

Kit Contents:

In this particular kit, you get:

  • Instructions
  • Diffraction Grating
  • Mini-Prism
  • Battery holder and 2 AA batteries
  • 3 way connector
  • Coloured gel filters
  • Back card base
  • Black card light box (flattened)
  • Laser LED, UV LED. IR LED in separate bags
  • Bag containing various coloured LED, resistor and super-bright white LED

Remember – you get a different random kit every month (not necessarily this one!)

Experiments Included:

We learn about these subjects through experimentation:

  • How the colour we see is defined by the wavelengths being given out by light sources
  • The difference between continuous and non-continuous spectrums
  • How we can split light into its constituent wavelengths using prisms and diffraction gratings
  • How different light sources give off a different spectrum
  • About Infra-Red, Ultra-Violet and LASER light sources – all three are included in this kit, together with ultra-white and other coloured LEDs.
